Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing
The College is proud to celebrate its 50th year of educational excellence in nursing education, a tradition dating to our founding in 1961. We are committed to providing quality educational programs for those desiring to become registered nurses, as well as nurses seeking to further advance their education.
The College is a part of Bon Secours Health System-- a unique healthcare organization that is sincerely dedicated to the mission of providing compassionate care to those in need. We are leaders in our community in that effort- from the mobile medical units that provide free care to our urban poor, (the Bon Secours Care-A-Vans) to our students’ help in building homes for Habitat for Humanity, or traveling to Haiti to help earthquake victims….we are one in our commitment to helping fulfill that mission.
Bon Secours Richmond has long demonstrated that it is a national leader in nursing excellence as well. Two Bon Secours Richmond hospitals - St. Mary's Hospital and Memorial Regional Medical Center - have achieved Magnet Recognition® for their nursing teams; the Magnet® award is a prestigious and coveted designation awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) honoring nursing excellence. The other Bon Secours Richmond hospitals are actively working to achieve this designation.
In keeping with this legacy of excellence, our College is pleased to offer both preparatory nursing education and a BSN completion program for registered nurses. Our commitment to the progressive advancement of collegiate nursing education is conducted with attention to academic and clinical excellence in the spirit of compassion and service that so defines us.
Current research demonstrates a positive correlation between the nurse’s level of education and the quality of patient care. That is the focus of our work at this college – to provide an avenue for nurses to continually advance in their education and clinical competence while remaining grounded in their calling.
