Alumni Awards
In honor of our campus' 60th anniversary in 2024, Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing (BSMCON) is beginning a new tradition of presenting alumni awards. These awards will be presented at our gala celebration this fall. Alumni from Richmond Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Bon Secours Memorial School of Nursing, and Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing are eligible to be nominated by themselves or someone that believes they deserve to be honored with one of the following awards.
Contribution to the Profession Award
The Contribution to the Profession Award recognizes the efforts and accomplishments of an alumnus who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the Nursing profession. The recipient exemplifies the dedication to lifelong learning and servant leadership that the College fosters. Evident through outstanding achievements and tireless efforts in advancing the field, the recipient of this award consistently:
- demonstrates leadership in formal and informal settings
- advances nursing scholarship and promotes the implementation of best practices
- advocates for policies that support nurses and those they care for
- works to increase awareness of the importance of nurses and the challenges they encounter and/or serves as a beacon of excellence for their colleagues
Contribution to the College Award
The Contribution to the College Award recognizes an alumnus for their profound dedication to the betterment of the College. They consistently show a deep commitment to fostering the growth and success of the institution through their efforts in fundraising, student engagement, and championing the College across their personal and professional networks. Evident in their ongoing engagement and passion for advancing the College’s mission, the recipient of this award consistently:
- endeavors to support the College and its students, alumni, and faculty
- champions the College to promote awareness amongst their peers, within the Ministry, and within the community
- gives back to the College of their time, talent, and treasure
- and/or promotes the Mission and Vision of the College
Outstanding Alumni Award
The Outstanding Alumni Award recognizes an alumnus who epitomizes the Mission and Values of the College. Their professional practice, leadership and notable achievements, and contributions to the nursing community reflect good help and compassionate care as an extension of the charism of the Sisters of Bon Secours. Beyond their professional success, they embody the spirit of lifelong learning, continuously seeking to expand their knowledge and skills. Evident in their unwavering dedication to professional excellence and their embodiment of the spirit of the College, the recipient of this award consistently:
- demonstrates service, quality, and compassion in their interactions with others
- strives to bring their community to health and wholeness
- exemplifies servant leadership and cultivates the same in others
- and/or achieves exceptional professional and/or academic success
To nominate a deserving alumnus, submit a nomination form. Please create a new submission for each different alumnus you'd like to nominate. Nominations will be accepted through August 17, 2024. Award recipients will be notified in September.
