We are pleased to announce that Gerald "Gerry" Grass, MSN, RN, has been awarded the 2024 DAISY Faculty Award!
The DAISY Foundation created the DAISY Faculty Award to honor nursing faculty who significantly influence their students' future practices. This national program allows nursing colleges and schools to recognize faculty for their dedication and inspirational impact on students and patient care.
Gerry was nominated by Jane Castelvecchi, a dedicated member of the Bon Secours community for almost 40 years, who retired last year after serving as our alumni relations coordinator since 2019.
Castelvecchi’s nomination highlighted Gerry's exceptional dedication and care: "While my husband was a patient at St. Mary's Hospital, I frequently saw Gerry with his students. He consistently inquired about my husband's progress and demonstrated an impressive level of attention to detail with each student."
Castelvecchi recounted a particularly challenging moment when her husband needed to be moved from a chair back to bed while on a ventilator. She said, “Gerry worked seamlessly with the bedside nurse to ensure my husband's comfort, even assisting with resetting the room afterward.” Castelvecchi noted, "Gerry graciously offered help with anything needed, exemplifying his commitment to students, patients, and families. He is truly deserving of the DAISY Faculty Award.”
Congratulations, Gerry, on this well-deserved recognition!
