Frequently Asked Questions

MyCB Account

Q: How do I purchase the required MyCB package and how much does it cost?
A: Your MyCB package costs $153.98 and can be purchased at www.castlebranch.com/online_submission/package_code.php through the "place order" field on the top right of the page.

The College's specific package code is BO82.

Q: What is included in my MyCB purchase?
A: The MyCB package ($153.98) includes the Virginia Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, criminal background check, and LabCorp drug screen in its cost.

Q: I am having difficulty logging in or uploading documents to my MyCB account. What do I do?
A: Review the Submitting Documents PDF

If you are having additional issues, reach out to the CB Customer Experience Team directly:

Q: A document I submitted to MyCB was rejected. What do I do now?
A: If something is rejected on MyCB, there will be a reason shown for the rejection along with your next steps. Rejections are not permanent and allow for re-upload until the document meets acceptance criteria. The "rejection" will be reversed once you have provided the corrected documentation.

Q: I have submitted a requirement but am still getting emails that it is overdue. Why?
A: There are various reasons you would still be getting overdue notifications. First, verify the document that you submitted: (1) was successfully uploaded and (2) was not rejected. Second, confirm you submitted the file directly to the requirement and not to the "My Documents" tab. That tab is for a student's own personal storage and does not overlap with the College compliance requirements.

Background Check

Q: Do I have to facilitate the background check myself?
A: NO. Your background check will automatically initiate upon opening your MyCB account. The cost of the check is included in the package fee you paid when you opened the account.

Virginia Child Abuse and Neglect Registry

Q: My MyCB account says the Virginia Child Abuse and Neglect Registry Initiation Request Form is incomplete, but I submitted the required form. Is there something else I need to do?
A: Yes. If your items show as "incomplete," there should be instructions that explain your next steps. You will be instructed to upload your completed form (this is the form you filled out at your drop-in session) and within 1-2 business days, CastleBranch will initiate a request in the Virginia DSS online portal for your search.

Once initiated, CastleBranch will add a new requirement in your myCB To-Do List that provides you with detailed instructions on how to complete the next steps in your submission. You will be required to complete online entry in the Virginia DSS Portal after your initiation, so pay close attention to your myCB account for the updated instructions.

Q: I completed this form weeks ago, but still do not see results on my account. Is something wrong?
A: This form typically takes a long time to process through the Virginia Department of Social Services, so it's likely you won't see it on your account for a few months after it was mailed.

Drug Screen

Q: Can I get a drug screen anywhere?
A: NO. Drug screens must be completed at LabCorp. Not every LabCorp site offers drug testing, so be sure to check ahead before you go.

See list of LapCorp sites within 25 miles of BSMCON here: BSMCON Local LabCorp Drug Testing Sites PDF

Q: How much is the drug screen?
A: Your drug screen is covered in the cost of opening your MyCB account. The purchase order form is located under the drug screen section of your profile, which you will bring to LabCorp to be scanned.

Q: Will I upload the drug screen results to MyCB myself?
A: NO. LabCorp will send the results to MyCB on your behalf.

Q: I am on prescription medication. What if my screening comes back positive?
A: MyCB has a Medical Review Officer that interprets positive results. If your screening is positive, MyCB will contact you directly for more information. If the positive test is a result of a prescribed medication, your drug screen report will be noted as such. If the drug screen is positive due to a non-approved medication and/or substance, the College will be notified to review.

Q: What happens if my drug screen results don't come in by the due date?
A: The College recommends completing your screening at least one month before the compliance due date. It is the student's responsibility to schedule their test accordingly with provided due dates. It is also the student's responsibility to check in with LabCorp and/or MyCB if the length of processing time becomes a concern. Students' drug screen results must be present on their MyCB account at the time all compliance items are due.

Immunizations

Q: I can't find any of my immunization records. What should I do?
A: If you cannot find your immunization record or have any documentation of past vaccines, it is recommended you get titers done for each required immunization.

  • Note that titers alone only satisfy immunization requirements if they are positive/reactive. If you do not have proof of previous vaccination and your titer is negative/non-reactive, you are required to begin a new vaccine series.

Q: What is a titer?
A: A titer is a laboratory test that measures the presence and amount of specific antibodies in blood. If a titer comes back positive/reactive, it means you have been immunized at some point and are sufficiently protected against the disease. Negative titers mean you are not sufficiently protected and will require additional vaccination to increase antibodies.

Q: I have one signed document with all my immunizations on it. How do I upload this to MyCB?
A: It is recommended that you upload the same document under each immunization requirement on your MyCB account. Reviewers can differentiate the immunizations between each section the form was uploaded to.

Q: If I have not received the full vaccine series for an immunization, can I still start the program on time?
A: YES. You may still start the program at your scheduled time if you have started the series and have provided proof before the deadline. You will be responsible for scheduling and finishing out the vaccine series after classes begin. Failure to complete the series will put you of compliance.

Q: Can my TB screening be a PPD skin test?
A: NO. Your TB screening must be an IGRA (Interferon Gamma Release Assay) blood test. This includes:

  • QuantiFERON Gold IN-Tube tests
  • T-SPOT-TB tests

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Q: Will my first-aid CPR certification fulfill the requirement?
A: NO. BSMH requires a Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from all students at the start of their program and annually/bi-annually thereafter. This certification usually includes an online portion and in-person skills check.

Q: What organizations are acceptable to obtain my BLS certification?
A: The 1) American Heart Association, 2) American Red Cross, and 3) American Safety and Health Institute are the three organizations Bon Secours Mercy Health recognizes for BLS certification.

Q: Can I get certified/re-certified through the Bon Secours Health System?
A: YES. Current BSMH associates can get certified through their job and can reach out to their supervisor for instructions. Non-associates can obtain BLS certification through BSMH by reaching out to BSHSI-heartcode@bshsi.org for instructions.
