Student Spotlight: Jacob Weideman

Prior to enrolling at the College of Nursing, Jacob Weideman was working 16-hour shifts in a paper mill. “I was doing back-breaking work and feeling drained. The only thing I had to show for my efforts at the end of the day was a paycheck,” he said. As a father and husband, Weideman wanted a more meaningful career; he always enjoyed caring for others, which led him to apply and successfully enroll in the BSN program at BSMCON.

BSMCON Earns First Quality Matters Certification

We are thrilled to announce that Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing (BSMCON) has just earned its first Quality Matters (QM) Certification in Online Teaching Support. This certification was awarded to both our pre-licensure (BSN) and post-licensure (RN-BSN) programs.

Student Spotlight: Catherine McPherson

Catherine McPherson, a BSN student at Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing (BSMCON) and a former Division I soccer player, fell in love with nursing after taking pre-requisite classes during her undergraduate career. She made the decision to place this dream on the back burner due to the demands that come with being a student-athlete. McPherson graduated with a degree in psychology and human biology and then later received her master’s degree in counseling. She worked as a counselor for many years while raising her three daughters.

Student Spotlight: Heather Yager

Heather Yager, a Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing BSN student, made the decision to switch to health care after working as a financial advisor for over a decade. Originally from the Richmond area, she made the decision to enroll in nursing while being a full-time mother to her two-year-old son, Tucker. “Tucker and my husband Josh have been my rock during this whole journey. I want my son to be proud of his mom going to work every day,” Yager said.

Launch of Alumni Ambassador Program

The Office of Student and Alumni Affairs is thrilled to announce the launch of the BSMCON Alumni Ambassador Program!

This program aims to enhance communications with alumni from the College, provide alumni with leadership opportunities, afford alumni connections with students, and increase alumni access to professional development, service and engagement activities. All alumni are invited and encouraged to become an Alumni Ambassador!

Global Outreach Annual Auction 2023

After a three-year hiatus due to the 2020 pandemic, our Global Outreach Program is returning with the Annual Benefit Silent Auction! All proceeds from the auction will help students cover the costs associated with international, national and local mission-driven service. With hundreds of items for bid such as festive food and beverages, door prizes and more, the Global Outreach Auction event is not to be missed! Ecampus Online Bookstore

Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing has partnered with eCampus to provide our students an online bookstore. Students who utilize the eCampus bookstore will have access to a variety of textbook formats (i.e., new, used, rental, digital eBooks, etc.). Students will also receive free shipping on orders over $59 sent directly to their residence and related book charges will be included on the student's registration bill.

Giving Tuesday

Today is #GivingTuesday, a global day of generosity. Donations provide funding for student scholarships, faculty support, program innovation and global outreach. Consider supporting the education of future nurses at Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing.
